Marble Cake (Air fryer)

This recipe was tagged to my fridge for a long time.  It was one of those recipe that I torn out from a magazine.

I think I lost my momentum in the kitchen.  Thus, its been a while since I last bake a cake.  

Decided to bake this Mable Cake for our breakfast this morning.  Initially I was wondering what so special about this recipe.  Upon reading it again, I realised that method is different from the normal.  No wonder I kept this.

With the air fryer, I got this cake done under half an hour.  This is the kind of food I like.  Fast, easy and minimal work.



Finding: Though I didn't do well in the marbling effect but I find the texture is moist and yet not dense.  I really like it. 

Note: This taste even better the next day.

I totally love my air fryer these days as it seriously cut down the cooking or baking time needed in each recipe.

What you need:

150g salted butter, melted
100g castor sugar
3 large eggs
8g cocoa powder
110g self raising flour, sieved
1/2 tsp lemon juice

Method:

Preheat oven to 180 deg.  Greased and lined a 5" round pan.  

Using 48g of the melted butter into a bowl and add in the cocoa powder.  Mix until it form a smooth paste.  Set aside.

Beat the remaining melted butter with sugar until it is pale.

Beat the eggs, and add into the butter mixture, alternating with the flour.  Beat until smooth.

Add in lemon juice and mix well.

Preheat the pan for approx 1 min.

Pour the cake batter onto the heated pan, alternating the cocoa mixture.  Using a knife or skewer, create swirl.

Bake for 15 - 17 mins using the air fryer.  If for oven, approx 20 - 25 mins.  Until it is cooked.

Let cake cool in pan, remove to cool on the cooling rack.

    I think using the air fryer for baking is good because it is very energy efficient. Nice to know that this recipe works well with this appliance too :D

  5. I loved Avocado Smoothie with Chia Seeds. Thanks for share it . If you think the only product you can prepare in these devices are snacks so they are not affordable, then you are incorrect. You can prepare at large amount of dishes in them; it just requires a little bit of variation. Both devices come with their own selection of dishes and there are formula guides gradually arriving onto the industry. You should also keep in thoughts that some meals and dishes are more designed for Philips or the Airfryer because of how the devices are designed.

    1. Thanks Thomas for the sharing. I shall try avocado with chia seed next round. I owned the Philips air fryer so the volume is a little limited for a family of 4.

    2. My cake was burnt on top, I think the quantities are too much, half it and then is perfect, I like the smaller cake because it was eaten in one day, fresh one every day because it was sooooo quick to put together!

  7. Hi..a sale person told me that Buffalo brand air fryer need not to be preheat for bake cakes..If am using Buffalo AF, is it still bake within15-17 min?

    1. Since I am not a Buffalo brand air fryer user, I can't adv. but I would presumed their temperature is set according to the standard requirement.

  8. I stumbled upon this recipe and am motivated to try. It is my first time trying to bake a cake using AF. I knew that the recipe call for 1 min preheat in 180 deg and baking time is ard 15 - 17 min but may I know whether the temperature is to be set at 180 deg too?

    1. Mine has an automatic timer to tell me that the oven is hot enough. If yours is not, buzz me about, I will time out the air fryer for you.

  13. i have a af to got it for Christmas, but didn't use it yet very unsure what to do I have a box of apple crisp mix can i use that instead of apple can i use applesauce thank you

    1. wow that is a nice present you have gotten over Christmas. It is a useful machine for me. You can explore more opportunity to use this. As for the applesauce, I don't think the above recipe uses that.

    1. If it is still wet, extend the baking time. You air baking it? Mine is Philip Air fryer. Some time it could be the thermometer calibration.
