Cod with terriyaki sauce

During the June holiday, we made a very short trip up North.  At one of the restaurant, hubby highly recommended we tried this Cod with Teriyaki sauce.  We were totally in love with this dish.  My kids and I were giving praise while we were eating it which we don't do too often.

Besides dory fish fillet, I never buy frozen fish.  I tried frozen prawns one of the Lunar New Year and it wasn't that bad.  So when the sales girl at the supermarket recommended frozen cod loin, I decided to give it a try and wanted to try replicating the dish we ate in June.

Thought the taste was close but the quality of the fish was a disappointment. The fish texture was rough.  This will be my last time buying this.

Next round, I will use fresh cod instead.

What you need:

Cod fish
salt and pepper

1 tsp minced garlic
1/2 cup soya
1/2 cup mirin
2 tbsp sugar (adjust to your sweetness liking)

Method:

Heat non stick pan till really hot and add oil and then put in cod fish.  Pan fry till golden brown on both sides.  Remove.

Using same pan, sautee minced garlic till fragrant, there should be some oil left from the cod fish.

Add in the soya sauce and mirin and seasoned with sugar.  Bring to a boil.  Remove and strain.

Pour sauce onto fish before serving.
