Chocolate Cake

Okay this chocolate cake recipe is not tried and tested by me but by my 11 years old daughter.

She always has been very sweet and easily contended girl.  As today is her last day for her mid year exam, she requested to be allowed to bake a whole cake by herself.

After her piano lesson, everything was silent and since I was resting upstairs still recovering from my flu, I didn't give a second thought as I thought she is watching youtube.

When I finally came downstairs, I realised that my little girl is almost done with her cake.  She has chosen a random recipe that she picked from the web.

And tada .......  she was really proud of herself and so is her mommy!

While typing this post and recording down the recipe, I realised that she actually tweaked the recipe.  Thus I am going to name it Chocolate Cake By Kaelia.

This cake came out so well that even her fussy brother is giving a thumbs up for it.

Just to prove a point that it is so easy that even a kid can manage.

So if you are out of idea how to keep your kid entertain this June holiday, try this!

What you need:

84g butter, softened
3 eggs
120g sugar
125g flour
50g unsweetened cocoa powder
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup milk

Method:

Pre-heat oven to 180ºC.  Greased and lined a 6” round pan.

Mix together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and baking soda. Set aside.

In a large bowl, beat butter, eggs and vanilla.

Gradually add sugar.

Beat on medium to high speed for about 3-4 minutes until well mixed

Alternately combine in flour mixture and milk to batter while beating.

Continue to beat until batter is smooth.

Pour equal amounts of batter into greased and floured round cake pans.

Bake 30 to 35 minutes.

Check with a toothpick to se if it is done. Bake a few minutes more, if needed.

Remove from oven and allow cakes to cool in pans for a few minutes.
Place cakes on a wire rack, to them allow to completely cool.

  2. You little princess is a brilliant cook. Mine can't even cook rice to save her life and she's 16. I think she will starve to death when we go for holiday without her this year end.
