We have been eating sushi alot of late. With the heat building up, we decided this will be easy on the tummy as well. After twice getting the rice cooked wrongly by helper, I decided to step in and prepare everything from the start on my own.
Preparing sushi is easy and my family just love eating it. Fillings are also subject to your preferences.
Sushi rice
What you need:
1 cup sushi rice, washed and drained
1 cup + 1 tbsp water
1/2 rice vinegar
4 tbsp sugar
2 tsp salt
Method:
Steam sushi rice with water.
Once rice is done, place in a big bowl.
Mix rice vinegar, sugar and salt. Stir till sugar and salt melted.
Sprinkle vinegar mixture evenly over rice. As you are doing it, cut into the rice on a slated manner. You don't want to mash the rice.
With a damp hand, take some sushi rice and place on seaweed. Put on your favourite fillings.
Roll and let it rest for a few mins before cutting it with a sharp knife, damp with water.
Clean knife with damp cloth after each cut to ensure the sushi has a clean cut.
